What Rundown Is
Rundown is a softball and baseball training app with three parts: players work through game situations in the IQ Game, Swing Lab gives feedback from a side-view swing filmed on the player's own device, and Coaches Corner helps a coach plan and run practice. The app is built so we know as little about your kid as possible.
What a Team Roster Holds
- First name and, if the coach adds it, one last initial. No full surname.
- Jersey number and fielding position, if supplied.
- The coach marks players under 13. A parent holds the account, gives the guardian confirmation and receives an email. We record that permission and the parent's separate sharing choice. We do not ask for a birth date.
- Quiz answers, scores, sport, position, and round times, linked to the roster profile by an internal random identifier. The coaches on her team can see those practice results.
Signed-In Player Accounts
A roster profile and a signed-in account are different. Creating a Player account uses an email address. We keep a random account identifier, sign-in records, and any App Store purchase and access records. New accounts also keep an eligibility declaration, notice version, and declaration time. Joining a team links that account to the player's roster profile. The account section of our Privacy Policy explains what we keep and why.
Use your own email, take your child's roster entry with the team code and tap the guardian confirmation. We email the confirmation to you. The team pass covers the child's seat.
Family Play
- Sign in with your own account. Open Account → Family.
- Connect your player’s team profile with that team’s private code and the player’s roster first name. Add the number if needed. Confirm you are an adult parent or guardian.
- The coach confirms they know you are the player’s parent or guardian. For a player 13 or older, the coach also confirms the player agreed to family play and IQ progress sharing. The managing parent must also approve an additional Family connection. This is separate from claiming the child's entry and does not grant journal access or turn on teammate sharing.
Your player chooses their own profile before playing. Their rounds save to their profile, and you can follow their IQ Game progress. The connection does not move their account or roster place, or add a paid spot.
An existing player already linked to your account, including an under-13 player you manage, appears without a new Family request. The managing parent must also approve an additional Family connection. This is separate from claiming the child's entry and does not grant journal access or turn on teammate sharing. Older connections remain read-only until confirmed under the current play-sharing notice.
What Roster Forms Do Not Ask For
- Full last name, home address, email address, or phone number
- Date of birth
- Photos, videos, or voice recordings
- Location
- Biometric data
- Advertising IDs or cross-site tracking cookies
There are no ads in Rundown, and we never sell data. Not player data, not anyone's.
What About Swing Lab? It Uses the Camera.
Swing Lab reads your kid's swing on your device. Rundown never receives the video, pictures, body points or results.
- In iPhone app version 1.5 and later, film a swing or pick an original from Photos. The working video file is deleted after the read, on cancel or failure, and on the next launch after a crash. Picking a video does not delete or change your Photos original. This version does not offer a saved video library or a Save video to Photos action. Clear Swing Lab history does not delete videos in Photos.
- A parent or guardian should answer the age question for anyone under 19. History starts off under 19; under 13, only a parent or guardian should turn it on, with a second tap to confirm.
- With history on, the phone keeps up to 500 swing summaries for up to 90 days, progress, and up to three small pictures of the best swing with the face pixelated. Each picture is at most 150 KiB, with 450 KiB in all. Progress and the best swing have no automatic expiry. Expired summaries are removed when Swing Lab next opens or saves history.
- Turning youth history off deletes that age group's summaries, progress and best swing. Clear Swing Lab history, under Menu, History on this phone, clears those records and the last answers for everyone there. It leaves an adult's history-off choice. Neither action deletes a video in Photos.
- The app also remembers Film or Film myself and the 5-second or 10-second countdown on this phone. These camera preferences contain no swing, age, identity or account details. Clearing Swing Lab history does not reset these camera preferences; deleting the app removes them. Device backups or restores may retain or restore local history and preferences; Rundown does not sync these records between devices.
- The current website keeps only its newest 20 short results summaries in the browser, without saved pictures. Clearing this site's browser data removes them. The website downloads its reader; the iPhone app has its reader built in. Sections 4a and 4c of our Privacy Policy explain both.
- Swing Lab gives general feedback and can be wrong. Stay with a hitter under 13 while they use it and do drills. See section 7a of our Terms.
The Website's Free Practice Leaderboard
The free practice game on the website has a public high-score list. The name box above it is optional. The iPhone app keeps its free-practice name and scores on the device and does not post them to this list. Signed-in team practice can save results to the team's roster.
- Leave the box blank and the score posts as "Guest". The game plays the same either way.
- If a name is typed, we keep the first word only, up to 12 characters. Anything after the first space is dropped before the score is sent, so a last name cannot reach us even if one is typed.
- No account, email address, or device identifier is attached to it.
- To have an entry taken down, email support@rundownsports.app with the name shown and the rough date.
How Long We Keep It
We do not keep a kid's information indefinitely. In plain terms:
- A player's roster records are deleted 12 months after their last activity, whether or not anyone asks.
- If a whole team goes quiet, its player records are deleted after 13 months.
- Leaderboard entries are deleted 12 months after they are posted.
- Parent link requests expire after 7 days. Active link records remain while the link is active. Revoked or expired link records are removed by the daily cleanup 30 days after revocation or expiry, or sooner when a linked account or the roster entry is deleted.
A signed-in account is kept while it is open. You can request deletion in the signed-in app or contact us. You never have to wait for the dates above. The full schedule, including account and payment records, is section 12 of the Privacy Policy.
If your account only views your child through a parent link, deleting your account removes the link without deleting your child's separately held account or results. If your account holds your child's roster entry, the existing account and roster deletion rules apply. Disconnecting a viewing link does not withdraw the separate consent for an under-13 managed entry.
Players Under 13
Who can join a roster
Players 13 and older join with their own account. In Canada and the United States, a parent or guardian signs in with their own email, takes an under-13 child's roster entry with the team code and taps the guardian confirmation. We email the confirmation to the parent. The team pass covers the child's seat; no separate player plan is needed.
Coaches see roster details and IQ results. JotDown is available, with no coach access to journal text. Teammate progress sharing is a separate parent choice, off by default.
Without a team, you can create a family-only child profile using the same confirmation and email. You can review and delete your child's journal. Email privacy@rundownsports.app to review or delete other records or withdraw permission.
No team? Buy an Individual pass
You can buy one player an Individual annual pass on the website and set up your child's profile yourself. It costs C$23.99 CAD or US$17.99 USD for 12 months, plus applicable sales tax shown before you pay. It covers the full reviewed softball and baseball IQ library and doesn't renew.
For a child under 13, buy the pass with your own account. After payment, choose "Set up my child's player", add your child's profile and give the guardian confirmation; we email it to you. The profile includes IQ play, saved progress and JotDown, with no coach or teammate view.
How to See or Delete Your Kid's Data
Email privacy@rundownsports.app and ask. You can:
- Review what we have, including roster details, recorded practice results, and any signed-in account information
- Delete it entirely
- Refuse any further collection
We verify the request and respond within 30 days, usually much faster.
